At the MTV Video Music Awards Japan (VMAJ) held on March 19, 2025, at K Arena in Kanagawa, the hip-hop/R&B-inspired girl group XG achieved significant recognition by securing two prestigious awards: Best Visual Effects and Performance of the Year for their hit song “WOKE UP.”
Expressing their gratitude, the members of XG emphasized the importance of teamwork and unity in their performances, stating, “When it comes to performing, we’ve always valued teamwork and unity above all else, so this means a lot to us!”
In addition to their awards, XG delivered a dynamic live performance at the event, showcasing their versatility by performing “WOKE UP,” their first all-rap song, and “IS THIS LOVE,” released earlier in March.
The group’s executive producer, JAKOPS (SIMON), was also honored with the newly established Best Producer award, further highlighting the team’s creative vision and leadership.
Prior to their performance, XG made a striking appearance on the red carpet, donning outfits from Alexander Wang’s archive collection, reflecting their bold and edgy style.
Currently, XG is on their first world tour, “The First HOWL,” with upcoming performances scheduled in China and Latin America, culminating in a finale at Tokyo Dome on May 14.
Notably, XG is set to make history as the only Japanese act performing at Coachella 2025, further solidifying their global presence.
