Veteran actor Gajraj Rao has publicly defended filmmaker Rakesh Roshan’s decision to cast his son, Hrithik Roshan, in the lead role of the “Krrish” film series. This support comes amid online criticism suggesting nepotism in the casting choices.
In a recent interview, Rao addressed the backlash, emphasizing that filmmaking is a personal and creative endeavor. He stated, “It’s his money, his work, his creativity, and for him, Hrithik fits in the said role. I think this is stupidity in saying so. Nothing is repeated; this is the hard work and vision of the maker.”
Rao further highlighted that directors often collaborate with actors they trust and have established working relationships with, citing legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray as an example of someone who frequently worked with the same actors.
The “Krrish” franchise, which began with “Koi… Mil Gaya” in 2003, has been a significant part of Hrithik Roshan’s career, with the actor portraying the titular superhero character in subsequent sequels. Despite the franchise’s success, discussions about casting choices have persisted, prompting industry peers like Gajraj Rao to voice their support for the creative decisions made by filmmakers.
