‘Love Me’ Explores Unconventional Romance in a Search for Meaning

LOS ANGELES – *Love Me* star Kristen Stewart admits that the film’s ultimate message remains open to interpretation.

*”I’m not sure what the movie is trying to say ultimately,”* Stewart shared. However, she believes the film touches on humanity’s deep-rooted desire for connection. *”Of course, we want to be not so alone,”* she added.

Set in a futuristic world where humanity has vanished, *Love Me* follows an unlikely love story between a sentient buoy (voiced by Stewart) and a satellite (voiced by *Beef* star Steven Yeun). In their quest to understand human emotions, they explore archives of modern social media, hoping to become more like the people who once inhabited Earth.

As they navigate their evolving identities, the buoy and satellite—who name themselves Me and Iam—begin imitating an influencer couple, Deja and Liam, also portrayed by Stewart and Yeun. Through their observations, they attempt to recreate the concept of love, drawing inspiration from an idealized version of human relationships.
The characters, Me and Iam, shape their identities by imitating an influencer couple, Deja and Liam, portrayed by Stewart and Yeun. This couple’s seemingly flawless life captivates them, leading them to mirror their actions and dynamics.

Love Me, a film distributed by Bleecker Street, marks the feature directorial debut of Sam and Andrew Zuchero. The movie, which hits theaters this Friday, explores themes of authenticity and self-perception.

Discussing the characters’ exaggerated romantic gestures, Yeun explained, *”They’re not trying to be artificial; they’re striving to be genuine.”*
