Pedro Pascal, known for his role in The Mandalorian, is reportedly set to play Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, in the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four film. Following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which returned the film rights to Fantastic Four and X-Men to Marvel Studios, fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the First Family into the MCU. With the film’s release scheduled for May 2025, casting decisions are now in full swing.
Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards:
Several reports have emerged today suggesting that Pedro Pascal has been cast as Reed Richards in the MCU’s Fantastic Four film. The first to report this was DanielRPK, who claimed that Pascal had been offered the role. According to /Film, Pascal has officially agreed to take on the role of Mister Fantastic. Meanwhile, Deadline added that while the deal is not finalized, Pascal is in talks with Marvel Studios to join the film. They mention that “scheduling is still being worked out,” but the actor and studio are likely to reach an agreement soon. Marvel Studios has not yet commented on these reports.
What We Know About the MCU’s Fantastic Four Cast:
If Pascal’s casting is confirmed, it’s likely that the other key members of the Fantastic Four cast are either locked in or will be soon. There is speculation that Marvel Studios could announce the main cast by the end of 2023, though the Hollywood industry typically slows down for the last two weeks of December. As such, the official announcement could come early in the new year.
Several actors have been rumored for roles alongside Pascal since before the SAG-AFTRA strike began in July. It was reported during the summer that Mission: Impossible actress Vanessa Kirby was in consideration for Sue Storm, while Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn was rumored to be eyed for Johnny Storm. There have been fewer rumors regarding the casting of Ben Grimm (The Thing), though it is said that Marvel is looking for a Jewish actor for the role.
While it remains to be seen if Pascal will officially sign on for Fantastic Four, scheduling could be the key issue. With his busy slate, including roles in Gladiator 2 and The Last of Us Season 2, negotiations could take some time. If all goes well, however, Pascal may soon become the MCU’s first official Fantastic Four cast member.
