Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos meets Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis after attending WAVES 2025

Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos recently met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis following his participation in the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, held in Mumbai from May 1 to May 4. The summit, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed to position India as a global leader in the media and entertainment industry.

During the summit, CM Fadnavis announced the development of a 120-acre Media and Entertainment City within Mumbai’s Film City, focusing on animation, gaming, and visual effects (VFX). Additionally, the establishment of the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) in Mumbai was unveiled, with a ₹400 crore investment approved by the central government.

While specific details of the meeting between Sarandos and Fadnavis have not been publicly disclosed, their interaction underscores the growing collaboration between global streaming platforms like Netflix and India’s burgeoning creative economy. The WAVES 2025 summit served as a platform for such engagements, highlighting India’s commitment to becoming a global hub for media and entertainment.
