Pakistan’s star couple Danish Taimoor, Ayeza Khan’s video on multiple weddings upsets internet

Pakistani actor Danish Taimoor recently sparked controversy with remarks about polygamy made during a Ramazan television special co-hosted with his wife, actress Ayeza Khan. Taimoor stated that, while Islam permits men to have up to four marriages—a right he emphasized cannot be taken away—he chooses not to exercise this option out of love and respect for Ayeza. He added, “For now, I want to spend my life with her.”

The phrase “for now” drew significant backlash online, with many interpreting it as insensitive and disrespectful toward Ayeza. Critics labeled his comments as patriarchal, and social media users expressed support for Ayeza, suggesting she “deserves better.”

In response to the criticism, Taimoor issued a public apology, acknowledging that his choice of words was poor and not intended to disrespect his wife. He explained that his use of “for now” was habitual, reflecting the transient nature of life, and expressed regret for any offense caused.

The couple, married since 2014 with two children, continues to receive public attention as discussions about the incident persist.
