Rana Daggubati, who is also co-producing the film, dropped the teaser of Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming film ‘Kaantha’ on July 28, 2025, coinciding with Dulquer Salmaan’s birthday.
The teaser of ‘Kaantha’ offers a glimpse into a period drama set in 1950s Madras, revolving around the themes of ego, love, and artistic rivalry within the film industry. Dulquer Salmaan plays the role of Chandran, a superstar, while Samuthirakani portrays Ayya, a legendary director and Chandran’s estranged father figure. The film also features Bhagyashri Borse.
The teaser hints at a tense relationship between the two main characters, with a shift in the film’s title from ‘Shaantha’ to ‘Kaantha’, suggesting a change from a female-centric to a hero-centric narrative.
‘Kaantha’ is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj and jointly produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films and Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media. The film’s music is composed by Jhanu Chanthar, with cinematography by Dani Sanchez-Lopez and editing by Lewllyn Anthony Gonsalvez.
The movie is slated to be released on September 12, 2025.
