Salman Khan skips IPL 2025 opening ceremony to support TB awareness cricket match

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently chose to forgo the glitz of the IPL 2025 opening ceremony to support a noble cause—raising awareness about tuberculosis (TB). On March 22, 2025, he attended the ‘TB Mukt Bharat’ cricket match in Mumbai, organized to promote a TB-free India.

The event, held at the MCA Cricket Stadium, featured a friendly T20 match between ‘Leaders XI,’ led by BJP MP Anurag Thakur, and ‘Actors XI,’ captained by Suniel Shetty. The match saw participation from various political figures and Bollywood celebrities, including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, actors Arjun Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, and Anupam Kher, among others.

Salman’s decision to prioritize this cause over attending the IPL opening ceremony has been widely praised. Fans and industry peers lauded his commitment to social issues, with many expressing admiration on social media platforms.

In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, ‘Sikandar,’ directed by A.R. Murugadoss and co-starring Rashmika Mandanna. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 30, 2025, coinciding with the Eid festivities.
